Hundred Thousand
A study published in the Lancet (respected medical journal) reports that one hundred thousand civilians are now dead as a consequence of the US invasion if Iraq. Was it worth it? The immense human suffering... All for the sake of empire. For the sake of inducing fear and submission. For the sake of continued economic, cultural and military dominance... And publicly justified by a series of blatant lies. Lies that were known to be lies by everyone, and publicly named as lies in the non-US media around the world.
How can people justify it for themselves? The politicians sending young women and men out to kill or get killed. For what? The corporations supporting it as they increase the profit for their shareholders. Those in the military believing they are doing it for "freedom". Those in the US supporting it, sitting on a coach in their living room watching TV reports that does not reflect the immense human suffering...
Iraq death toll 'soared post-war'

A study published by the Lancet says the risk of death by violence for civilians in Iraq is now 58 times higher than before the US-led invasion. [...]
Before the invasion, most people died as a result of heart attack, stroke and chronic illness, the report says, whereas after the invasion, "violence was the primary cause of death".
Violent deaths were mainly attributed to coalition forces - and most individuals reportedly killed were women and children. [...]
"Violence accounted for most of the excess deaths and air strikes from coalition forces accounted for most of the violent deaths."
