Systematic II
It is interesting to see how many in the US express the view that the prisoner abuse in Iraq was "unamerican" and not in the US character. It is another expression of a black-and-white view of the world of which Bush currently is the most visible proponent.
They forget that the US is a nation founded on genocide. And what about slavery, the interment of Japanese during WW2, the toppling of democratically elected governments (Chile in 1973), and the current abuse in US prisons?
The character of any person and any group is immensely complex.
It contains all characteristics - as a potential or unfolded.
Maturity is to recognize that they are all there - in ourselves as well as others.
